Bio
Favorite Quotation:
"Some people come into your life as blessings. Some people come into your life as lessons." Mother Teresa
Why I teach:
I enjoy getting to know each student and helping them find just the right book. I especially enjoy it when they recommend a book they have read.
Education and Training:
I received my Bachelor of Arts degree with a concentration in computer science from Rhode Island College, located in Providence, RI. I received my Texas Teacher Certification through Region 10 in 2006. In 2007, I was a recipient of the Diocesan “Work of the Heart Award” for my work as a 5th Grade Language Arts teacher. I was also chosen as the St. Joseph Teacher of the Year in 2017/18.
Where I Have Lived:
My husband and I both grew up in the “biggest little state in the union”, Rhode Island. After we were married, my husband took a job transfer to Germany. We lived just outside of Munich for 2 ½ years. We were later transferred to Texas – “We weren’t born here, but we got here as fast as we could!” J We have lived here for over 20 years.
My Professional Experience:
This is my eighth year teaching at St. Joseph Catholic School and I am very excited about being here. Previously, I worked at St. Paul the Apostle School where I taught computers for 4 years, 5th Grade Language Arts for 5 years, and then finally math for the last 3 years: grades 4th - 6th. Since I have been at St. Joseph, I taught 1st grade for 1 year, 5th grade for 3 years, two years in the library and two years in 4th grade. I enjoy all areas of teaching and am happy to go wherever my path leads me.
My Family:
My husband, Tony, and I have been married for 30 years. We have 3 children: James (28) graduated from UNT and works in network securities, Emily (25) is a graduate of Oklahoma State University and is a music teacher at a Catholic school in Tulsa, and Sarah (21) is a Senior at Oklahoma State University studying mechanical engineering technology. We have also adopted 2 dogs, Lucy and Roscoe.
Something you might not know about me:
My husband and I both come from large families, and we have 33 nieces and nephews!
A prayer for my students:
Father of all mercies We ask that you would bless the youngest and littlest of learners, the most helpless and powerless of persons, with Your infinite and loving mercy, granting them the strength to learn, concentrate, and act in love towards their teachers and fellow students. We also ask that You would watch over them at home and at school and give them proper direction so that they may learn of Your wonderful virtues. We ask this in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ.
Amen
