Favorite Verse and Quotation:

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28: 19-20

“Build me a son, O Lord, who will be strong enough to know when he is weak, and brave enough to face himself when he is afraid, one who will be proud and unbending in honest defeat, and humble and gentle in victory.”  Douglas MacArthur

Why I Teach:

I teach because I truly feel called to this vocation.  After working in the retail business for many years, I had a dream that I needed to do more with my life.  It became clear to me in this dream that I needed to work with children in the classroom.  Everything was clear to me.  I knew exactly where I wanted to receive my teaching credentials, and I knew that the Catholic school environment was where I belonged.  I still feel as strongly about this today as I did over twenty years ago when I had this dream.  I feel truly blessed to be a part of the lives of so many people.

I believe that all children want to learn and be successful in school.  The thirst for knowledge is fundamental and is rarely if ever quenched.  I believe students learn best when happy and involved in the activities in the classroom.  Freedom of movement and comfort in giving answers is paramount.  When given the opportunity to achieve, I believe students will respond.  As a teacher, it is the most rewarding experience to see children reach success where they have struggle.

Education and Training:

I attended Richland College and the University of Texas at Dallas and earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in accounting.  Many years later, I returned to the classroom, attending the University of Dallas, in order to be certified to teach in the state of Texas.  After receiving my state certification to teach English at the secondary level, I remained at the University of Dallas, earning a master’s degree in humanities with a specialization in theology.

Where I have Lived:

I was born in Dallas and stayed here until I graduated from college.  When I was in my early twenties, I ventured away and lived in Sherman for five years.  Feeling the draw to be back in the city, I moved back to Dallas and have been here ever since.

My Professional Experience:

For the first fifteen years of my teaching career, I worked at St. Monica Catholic School.  Feeling the call to move elsewhere, I came to St. Joseph Catholic School.  Prior to teaching, I worked in retail.

My Family:

I have a very small family consisting of my sister, my two brothers and their wives.  We all live in Dallas within a two-mile radius of each other. My mother passed away in November of 2016 and my father passed away in November of 2012.

Something you might not know about me:

I have a cat named Jonas and I love animals.

My prayer for my students:

I pray that you will listen to God’s calling and find His purpose for your life.  May you not waste any of the talents given to you by God.  May you be strong in your faith and lead others to Christ by your actions and words.
