Favorite quotes:

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. – Proverbs 3:5-6

“Do your best and let God do the rest.” – Ben Carson

Why I teach:

Children are such a blessing and are so capable of anything they put their mind to. I love how they delight in learning and experiencing new things - I so enjoy nurturing them academically and spiritually.

Education and Training:

I received my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Benedictine College (Atchison, KS). I went on to receive my master’s in Social Work from Washburn University (Topeka, KS). I have had ongoing training with a phoneme sequencing program through SMU which consists of specific steps to develop phonemic awareness and apply that sensory-cognitive function to reading, spelling, and speech.

Where I have Lived:

I was born and raised in Topeka, KS. After grad school, I moved to Dallas and have enjoyed being a Texan for the past 20 years.

My Professional Experience:

I have taught with the Dallas Diocese for 8 years with experience in Kindergarten, PK4 and 2nd Grade. After taking time to raise my family, I returned to my love of teaching and research by becoming an interventionist through the SMU Department of Teaching and Learning. I provided daily lessons through a researched based phonemic awareness program with groups of 4th grade students who tested under grade level in language arts.

My Family:

My husband, Brett, and I have been married for 15 years.  We have three children. Lauren (13) is in 7th grade and our twins, Michael and Amanda (9) are in 4th grade.  All of our children attend St. Patrick School here in Dallas. We also have two sweet and extra-fluffy cats – Lucybell and Isabella.

Something you may not know about me:

I enjoy playing the piano and love to sing. When I was in college, our choir went on a pilgrimage to Rome where we sang for St. Pope John Paul II during a papal audience at the Vatican. Afterward, we were able to meet him and he took a picture with our choir. Little did we know that we were in the presence of a soon-to-be saint!

Prayer for my Students:

Almighty God, our heavenly Father, you have committed to your holy Church the care and nurture of your children. Enlighten with your wisdom those who teach and those who learn, that rejoicing in the knowledge of your truth, they may worship you and serve you from generation to generation; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
